The course focuses on understanding the metallurgy, melting and solidification of welded joints. During the course students
will be aware of phase transformations and phase diagrams applied to different ferrous and nonferrous materials, of
discontinuities and defects in welding, including, cracking, distortions and residual stress consequences, as well as its
control and design considerations.
